Vacation: 13 - 25 August 2008

In Cambodia for 8 days, although I am not feeling well throughout the trip, but thanks God that His message is still clear- Clean and purify your heart. Many messages from Ps. Mike was like directing to me. How to have a right attitude and a greater growth. I believe I should used that in my workplace as well.
The Family
Although sometimes I fell like stuck on this island, but still need to give thanks because of what God has blessed me and how I can use that blessing to bless others. The touching part in this trip is not so much on how the Cambodian but through Bro David and his siblings. How they work together in God’s family really encouraging. Each of them have their own gifting and hope that one day more people in my family will join in hand to serve the Lord. David, Paul & Priscilla – There is a reason why God have 3 of you in the family.

FIT
I have learned a lesson during this trip as well. We really need to be physically and spiritually prepare to do mission work. It not easy and it is exhausting as well. So if I am going to join any trip in the future. Have to make sure I have enough sleep and bring Vitamin C as well.

Being Bless and Blessed
It is quite a reflecting experience to see how we travel all the way from Malaysia to Cambodia to help the local church. It reminds me of those great missionaries who travel to Malaysia to spread the gospel during the colonial period. That is how First Assembly Of God being established. God bless us in order for us to bless other.

There is nothing for us to proud because the great power is coming from the highest One . It is because He first loves us in order for us to love the others. We should continue to tell the love of God.

Children – Gift Of God

Shopping Shopping Shopping
After all this lesson I learn during this trip, for sure there were some slot for shopping. I bought quite a lot of stuff for my future house. Some accessories and paintings, I am wondering when will be a time God will grant me a house. I am going to display all the stuff that I have been collecting all these years.

Each of that small items will reminds myself what I have gone throughout the years. Some from China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore and Maldives, some of this place is as long as 2 years and some just few months or weeks. But it still tell a story of my life – The season of my life. I like the name of my blog, Season & Seasoning. I haven’t got the time to seriously write about it but will for sure find a day to tell everyone about that.

Gathering

Thanks God that He has arranged two great gathering for me in this trip. One is from my High School fren – Girl Guides and the one is my family gathering. In Girl Guides we know each other at least 14 years, Sue Ann & Yvonne (14 years), E Ven (16 Years), Weng Leai, Suet Lyn and Shiva (20 years).

Although we seldom meet each other, but this group of friends made a great impact in my life which still influencing me all these years. Their passion and commitment throughout one aim was so strong. How we apply each of our talents in different scope of work was great. Sue Ann, the loving, friendly and patient. Yvonne, the secretary and the reminder always make sure every details is in order. Even & Leai – our design director, from backdrops to den decoration. Suet Lyn & Shiva – PR directors will make sure will keep a good relationship with HQ and other school.

The support my family giving me all this years is great. They are not only morally supporting me but also financially supporting me during my study in Singapore.

Mum and dad are always busy with their work. But thanks God for this Olympic Closing, we manage to have a one whole day rest. It was fully occupied from Brunch – Yum Cha session - afternoon property shopping – evening: Hair Cut with mum – Night: Steam Boat Party.

In these ten years, my family has gone thru many things. But thanks God that we still manage to stay together and our relationship is getting better each day.

They might have some trials or argument in the future but will continue to pray that God will still uphold this family.

The Steam boat we have at home is the best Steam Boat in this planet. The soup is extremely delicious. See, we try to squeeze everything for this family gathering even moon cake also have. Well since I am not there to celebrate with them at least I can share some moon cake with them. Meng Han brought out his special collection of alchohol to share with us. Looks cool right, but too bad I cant drink even it look like the tarik ice. Kekeke.

How I celebrate my 08.08.08

It’s Friday again. The only day I can go with my hobby – cooking. I thought of making Char Siu Bau and Chee Cheong Fun. But end up making Char Siew So as well. Cant try chee cheong fun since they do not have any white linen cloth on the island.

I told myself, I must make a good pau this time compare to the previous Vege Pau. So I tried to use the Char Siew Sauce that I bought as seasoning. Everythings were well prepare from the filling and the pau dough. But it’s really a bad day for me - I cut my thumb then some more no handy plast at home – end – up using cotton + masking tape *faint*.

I cant pleat the pau with my “Cacat” finger. So have to get “Ah Chai” to help up. He is so happy, at least learn something new. The first tray of pau was really scary …it looks like the blood running all over the pau…wahahahaha…. No lah it’s the sauce… The second tray were much better.

Since I have been dieing to make this cupcake, I cant stop myself from thinking of those magnificient decoration of fondant. So I tried with my whipped cream and use a bit of icing sugar. That is how I celebrate my 08.08.08. How am I going to celebrate my 09.09.09 or where will I be in the next Olympic Games 4 years later.

What to cook with Rice Cooker

I think God really want to test my patient somehow along the way. This “SuperMarket- called “TwoPlusOne” promised to send the cylinder cooking gas by 6:15pm didn’t turn up after I prepare everything for dinner.

So I just have to call back to my “Beloved” dad since I didn’t talk to him for a week. I guess because He is having a cold war with mum and no one listen to his planning and point of view. Tell me everything at one shot, from Anwar case, to family business, to cutie Sherley and his future plan for half an hour without stop.

Then when it comes to mum turn, not more than 5 minutes, this lady want to hang up. Asked if she wants to join Aunty Pat and grandma to Beijing, she just say No. L I said I belanja you lo… She answered and said “I got no money meh” *faint*. Sometimes this aunty really very “Chuen”.

Ok. ..Come back to the dinner after waiting a little longer, I have to used the “RICE COOKER” again. If tonight that fella didn’t turn up, I guess I can come out with a recipes book called “What to cook with Rice Cooker”. Tonight dish were tomato eggs, Chinese cabbage soup and “Dau Si Liang Yu”. The brilliant way is, I used that to cook “Tong Sui – Apple with white fungus” . It tastes superb. Two thumbs up. But I didn’t drink lah.. just test a bit… and left for those Mahjong Kaki. I think it taste good when its cold as well.

Our day without "DaiLow" (Mut Yau Dai Low Dek Yat Chee)

I just can’t believe why this island is always running out of cooking gas. After our last meal on Tuesday, the cooking gas has finished again. We need to change the cooking gas quite frequent now a days.

Well I didn’t boil soup as often or baking this few weeks. Maybe it is because we cooked at home most of the time. The only restaurant we will go - Eye CafĂ© is like a Crocodile, the price just goes up faster than the petrol price from the whole world. Their special noodles we used to have been about Rf 35 and now it goes up to Rf55. Its really not worth to eat out, that’s why now all my colleagues prefer to eat at home.

So what we can cook without cooking gas, “Ah Chai” is quite tired after all the heavy work in the office. He insisted to go back and eat. The only food we can cook are those with the rice cooker & microwares can take in.

Maggi Mee with eggs and luncheon meat were the only choice. It’s quite amazing the eggs turn out better than those we used to fry with pan except for one which was broken. I just can’t figure out how to take it out at the first place. The other two turn out fine. For the Maggi Mees….without much choices have to add in boil water …. If not it will take forever to cook it and the luncheon meat just have to go to the microware. I dun want to take the time cleaning up the rice cooker after all the hassle frying with the rice cooker.

Since Aunty Sum & Low Yeh went back to HK and left 3 of us. I dun have much mood to make dinner. We feel like we are those kids that were left behind by their parents… eating Maggi Mee all the time… ahahahah. But I believe after this August – Holiday month … Happiness will be full of food again… cause we need to survive till Dec .

My Dim Sum Corner @ Happiness

In these two months, I have learned quite a lot of Chinese Food. The recipes and the techniques I got are mostly from the web. Sometimes just based on the recipes alone, you can’t make a good food. You need to go thru, trial and error then of coz Practice makes Perfect. From Pau, Ham Sui Gok (Gluotious Turnip Dumpling, Peanut Butter Pastry, Chai Tow Kuey (Chinese Carrot Cake), Siew Long Bao, Har Gao, Sui Gao) So most likely I have tried most of the Dim Sum.

I will try to get more ingredients from my next trip back home. I will learn more Chinese Cuisine especially Teochew & Hokkien. Although I cant master this dialect well, hope I can learn their food. Its quite a shame since I am a Hokkien and my mum side is Teochew. Aunty Pat always said you have eaten so much teochew saliva, how come cannot speak Teochew. Well, its not my fault since they used to speak to all of us in Cantonese since kids.

Besides Chinse Cuisine, will try to make more pastry and cake. Especially this fondant for cupcakes with all the decoration. Huh, its so interesting. Will try to buy more gadget, Hope I can bring all this stuff back to KL in the future… if not mum for sure will kill me.

Double Rainbow

This morning the skies seems like going to pour again..... can see half the skies was dark and the other side was the rising sun. So guess what, there goes the rainbow, when I observe again. Its a DOUBLE RAINBOW.... huh..I dun know there will be double rainbow after I been to Maldives. To me double rainbow mean double promise from GOD....sound good right.... But this round not manage to take any photos. So just show the double rainbow I took last time. Then I whispered to myself and wonder if I could see a semi circular rainbow.. which I thought I wont have the chance... huh.. see sometimes God will show you what u think you wont see in ur life. After work, while I was sitting at the front seat of the speedboat...and try to peep out the window..guess what.... huh.. I really saw it. God you are really amazing. Praise the Lord.
p/s. Below are some information describe in wikipedia about Double Rainbow

This is the great light that shine from the back . After all the complains of the boring life in Maldives. I should have say the scenery here is really amazing.

"A second, dimmer, and thicker secondary rainbow is seen outside the primary bow. Secondary rainbows are caused by a double reflection of sunlight inside the raindrops, and appear at an angle of 50°–53°. As a result of the second reflection, the colours of a secondary rainbow are inverted compared to the primary bow, with blue on the outside and red on the inside. The dark area of unlit sky lying between the primary and secondary bows is called Alexander's band, after Alexander of Aphrodisias who first described it."

Third Chef @ Happiness

I guess I have spent too much time cooking and baking in the kitchen on Friday. So most of the time, I will be quite tired to cook on saturday night. So give the chance to my third chef - Ah Chai (Aunty's Sum adopted son- He is one of our contract team - Senior Qs). I have to admit I just dun like him to stand at the side to watch me cooking. The feeling is like your fren starring at you when you are wearing your make-up. Yucks.... So I just say, lets give a chance to Clarence tonight to occupy the kitchen.
To everyone surprise, he did a good job. So I just stand at the side helping him to take photos so that He can post it for his gf and mum....He was so happy because its his first time to prepare a dinner for everyone which is eatable.. kekekek...

Not Bad Not Bad. Ganbadeh... So now I dun have to cook every night for everyone and have more time browsing for new recipes... :)
